Where is the debate for foster care in 2020?

Media this morning is buzzing with 2020 ideas and debates, but I’ve searched and searched and found very few reported debates about what the foster care system should look like in 2020.

Indigo of the previous post has been involved in quite an informed debate here.

I’ll keep watching and hoping that more of the ideas discussed will filter through and hopefully bring about change.

The positive aspect of the Summit though was a really strong focus on preventative supports, which is an important contributor to the wider community solutions, together with strong mechanisms to support the essential contributions of foster carers.

  1. Although I submitted a few ideas about child protection and the foster care system for consideration, they received little or no attention. Unfortunately foster care just doesn’t seem to be a big enough issue to deserve close attention on a national or even statewide scale.

  2. I also sent suggestions to the fcav with suggestions and worries about the current system and how its not working in the best interest of the children ,and I also believe the same as Josh it appears that out of home based carers are not being held in the reguard everyone says and we are not listened to or heard by many at all.The whole fostercare system needs an australian overhaul to be the same in every state not just state wide there is to many differences from state to state.
